Beyond the Visual Rainbow is a large-scale, sculptural, wall hanging. The foundation of the sculpture is made of chicken wire and consists of hundreds of yards of colored and textured fabric and different shaped and sized objects. Residents of the Deanwood Community donated most of the fabric incorporated into the piece. Through the process of creating this sculpture, everyday objects developed historical meaning. The design of the artwork was created to reflect the vibrancy, resiliency, and diversity of the Deanwood community, past and present. The multi-colored fabrics honor Deanwood’s rich history and its resident’s strong engagement and love for their community.
